Bengali Senior Secondary School Overview
We take great pride in introducing our esteemed institution, Bengal Senior Secondary School, better known as Kashmere Gate Bangla School. Established on 23rd February 1899, we hold the distinction of being the first recognized Bengali School in Delhi. Our humble beginnings saw a total of 40 students and a dedicated teacher, Mr Karayan Das. An incredibly committed individual, Mr Das selflessly volunteered his time, conducting two-hour classes in the morning before attending to his professional responsibilities at Kartarak & Company in Chandani Chowk. In 1900, Pandit Net Ram Ji joined our school, marking an important milestone for us. Though not a Bengali, Panditji possessed an impressive command over the language. His tenure lasted until the early 1930s, leaving an indelible mark on our institution. As time progressed, we welcomed Mr Pearson, a British gentleman who took charge of teaching English till 1933, thereby broadening the linguistic horizons of our students.
