Sacred Heart Convent School Overview
Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School Amritsar is a unit of the Delhi Province of the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary (SCJM), an international religious congregation established in Belgium in the year 1803. The congregation originated in response to the needs arising from the aftermath of the French Revolution, which resulted in widespread suffering, including financial loss, orphanhood, widowhood, mental illness, physical disabilities, and more. Rev. Fr. Can. P. J. Triest, a young priest, was deeply moved by the plight of those affected and initiated efforts to alleviate their suffering. With the support of a small group of young women, he focused on caring for the sick, tending to orphans, and educating the youth out of love for God and humanity. This group eventually formalized into the SCJM Congregation, with a mission to demonstrate that God is Love through various means such as formal and informal education, healthcare, and social services.
