Pratt Memorial School Overview
Pratt Memorial School, located at 168, Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Road, Kolkata 700 014, was established in 1876 to honor Archdeacon Pratt. It was founded as an English Medium School with a primary focus on educating Anglo Indian and Christian children. The School operates under the Diocese of Kolkata, which is a part of the Church of North India. The Chairman of the Board of Governors of the School is the Bishop of Kolkata. Pratt Memorial School is officially recognized by the Director of Public Instruction, Government of West Bengal, and is subject to inspections by the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (Anglo-Indian Schools) West Bengal. It is important to note that due to a Supreme Court order from April 12th, 2012, in the writ petition number 95 of 2010, the school is not covered under the RTE Act, 2009, as it is an unaided minority institution.
