Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala, a prestigious residential pre-university college for boys, is managed by Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, a branch of Ramakrishna Math, Belur, Howrah, West Bengal. The primary objective of this institution is to embody the comprehensive vision of education put forth by Swami Vivekananda. Established in 1953, the college caters to students from standards VIII to XII. The foundation of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala was laid by Srimat Swami Shambhavananda Maharaj in 1953. Swamiji was a trailblazer in the field of education in southern Karnataka and aimed to provide young students with a holistic education that encompasses physical, mental, and spiritual development, commonly referred to as "man-making education," as described by Swami Vivekananda. Originally, Vidyashala began as a small hostel, named Ramakrishna Students Home, accommodating students of various age groups. The students home, constructed in 1932, had distinguished residents like K.V. Puttappa, Javare Gowda, and S.M. Krishna, who later became significant figures in society.
