Rashtriya Military School Overview
Rashtriya Military School Chail, along with its sister institution in Jhelum, Pakistan, was established after the conclusion of the First World War. This came into fruition thanks to a generous donation of Rs. 2.5 lakhs from the King George Vs Patriotic Fund. In February 1922, the school's foundation stone was laid by the then Prince of Wales, and it began its operations on September 15, 1925, in Jalandhar Cantt. Originally known as King Georges Royal Indian Military College (KGRIMC), the school aimed to provide free education to the sons of Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), and Other Ranks (OR). Its purpose was to prepare them for various Army Examinations, including the Indian Special Certificate of Education. The entire curriculum was designed to meet military requirements, with English serving as the medium of instruction. The school's initial capacity was 250 students, and the majority of the staff were military personnel. During World War II, the school was designated as a college,
