Anjuman I Islam Public School Overview
Anjuman I Islam Public School, located in Panchgani, was established in 1920 by Mr. Hoonseinbhoy Laljee and a few others. Inspired by prestigious schools like Harrow and Eton, they formed the Darul?Uloom Trust with the intention of building a similar institution. Initially, the Darul?Uloom Muslim High School began with only 30 students in the residence of the Nawab of Wai. In 1922, the trust acquired an estate spanning over 168 acres on the Panchgani?Mahabaleshwar road and shifted the school to its new location. However, in May 1958, the Darul Uloom trust was transferred to the Anjuman?I-Islam Trust, Bombay, a registered organization overseeing various charities, orphanages, and charitable institutions. Under the leadership of late Mr. Akbar Peerbhoy, a prominent legal figure, and his wife, Mrs. Homai Peerbhoy, the institution flourished.
