This school has a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1959 as a Matriculation School affiliated with the University of Madras. Initially recognized on March 19, 1959, through letter p.A983, it later transitioned to the jurisdiction and recognition of a separate Board of Matriculation Schools on November 13, 1978. On July 1, 1978, it was upgraded to its current status. The institution was founded by The South Indian Salesian Society, which is a registered society operating under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 (Registration Number S.N.20 of 1945-1946). It has been managed by Catholic Religious Fathers belonging to the congregation of South Indian Salesian Society fathers. The society also oversees the operations of "Dominic Savio Matriculation Higher Secondary School" located in Santhome, Chennai – 600 004.
