The history of National College Basavanagudi is deeply intertwined with the vision and commitment of The National Education Society of Karnataka (NES), an institution established in 1917 with the noble goal of instilling nationalistic ideals. Located in Basavanagudi, the college was founded in 1945 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the National High School. Under the leadership of Padmabhusan Dr. H. Narasimhaiah, who served as the chairman of NES until his demise, the college flourished. Dr. Narasimhaiah's visionary initiatives included the establishment of the Bangalore Science Forum (BSF), a pioneering platform for scientific lectures by luminaries from various disciplines. The National College, over its decades-long existence, has epitomized "Value-based higher education" and has been a significant contributor to society's overall development. It takes pride in producing not only meritorious professionals but also administrators and scientists with strong moral values.
