Loreto Convent Entally, established in 1843, holds a special place in the history of education for women. Founded by the Sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was initiated by Mary Ward in the 17th century, the school has always aimed at empowering women to contribute to society. Mary Ward's visionary ideals continue to inspire the Sisters who run the school today. Initially established for Catholic children, Loreto Entally has evolved over the years to welcome students from all communities, reflecting India's unity in diversity. The Sisters strive to provide holistic education to girls, focusing on their spiritual growth and overall development. Deeply concerned about the well-being of Christian children in Calcutta during the 1830s, Dr Bakhaus sought the help of Mother Teresa Ball. After much prayer and consideration, she agreed to send six of her finest Sisters to assist. On December 30th, 1841, these courageous nuns arrived at Babu Ghat, marking the beginning of an extraordinary journey
