Bodhicariya Senior Secondary School Overview
Bodhicariya Senior Secondary School is the result of the tireless efforts and selfless dedication towards the welfare of underprivileged sections of society by Venerable Bimal Bhikkhu and the late Most Venerable Chakma Rajguru Agra Bamsa Mahathera. These renowned Buddhist monks, along with several social workers based in Kolkata, established Shishu Koruna Sangha (A Children Welfare Society), a non-profit charitable organization, in 1986. Under the auspices of this society, Bodhicariya School was founded. Shishu Koruna Sangha, with its philanthropic objectives, initiated Bodhicariya School on November 15th, 1990, admitting its first batch of 30 children. Over time, the organization made significant strides in society by providing education, particularly value-based modern education, to underprivileged children, especially those from tribal communities in North East India and West Bengal. Today, amidst the rapid urbanization of Kolkata as part of the Mega City Project, Bodhicariya School finds itself situated in the heart of an emerging economic hub of the city.
